If you heat your home with electric heat or a heat pump or heat your hot water with electric, you will now see some significant rate hikes. The new laws pertaining to electric rate deregulation, Peco is phasing out the discount rates, the RH rate fo home heating and the OP rate for electric water heating will be phased out in two steps begining Jan 1, 2012 and end Jan 1, 2013. The Op rate will also be phased out in the same time period.
The price increases from the elimination of the discounts will occur in addition to the rate hikes resulting from the elimination of electric rate caps at the end of 2011.
Homes will soon see their electric heating rates and electric hot water heating rates almost double. If you have oil to heat your home it's like paying $7.00 a gallon!
If you want to avoid the effect of these rate hikes and upgrade your heat or hot water systems you are welcome to Call JC Heating. We will be happy to review your options for saving money and conserving energy.
